Today is the start of Equip 2009 up at HCF, and it's looking like it's going to be a crazy time! For all of those who aren't going to be there, here's a little something to inspire you to get stuck into the word!
A little extract from a Bill Johnson preach (pastor of Bethel church in Florida):
"It’s every generation’s responsibility to try and extract every promise in the Bible out now, not to sit still and say “it’s for another day”
The bible is a minefield. He put the gold in rocks. He’s hidden gems.
"It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, the glory of kings to search them out." (Proverbs)
God hides stuff for us, not from us. (Easter egg hunt)
The parents’ joy is in the kid finding the egg.
The parents’ thrill is in their discovery and their sense of adventure in discovery.
The kids’ joy is in the discovery and in the countenance of those who take pleasure in them.
God hides things for you.
Why did Jesus teach in parables?
So that not everyone would get it.
Why? He only wanted desperate people to understand because they were the only ones ready to obey, and God, in his mercy, doesn’t throw out truth, because then he’s increasing the responsibility on those who don’t have the ability to obey.
So he conceals truth, he tells it in stories.
He puts the gold in the rock and says,
“If you want it, break the rock”
‘Glory of kings to search it out’ – Never does your royalty shine more than when you realise you have legal access to the mysteries/ secrets of God because it’s your inheritance."
